"Craft distilleries" and other "small batches" are all the rage! The Cedar Ridge Distillery is above all a family distillery - a family of farmers, to be precise - committed to advocating production methods that help support the local economy.
The simplest things are often the hardest to see: before the Cedar Ridge Distillery opened, the residents of Iowa had imported all its distilled alcohols, most of which were made from corn. Remarkable, considering Iowa is the largest producer of corn in the United States! The distillery thus decided to export its products instead of import them, and therefore have a positive impact on the local economy. Led by Jeff Quint and his wife Laurie, this family of farmers first embarked on the Cedar Ridge adventure in 2005. In 2009, they called upon a former chef, Kolin Brighton, to serve as the head of the distillation process. Hardly surprising when you consider that both disciplines require high-quality ingredients coupled with outstanding know-how and the utmost in skill. In short, the essentials for producing sublime and perfectly balanced concoctions.
Each of the line's expressions is made unique by its distinct and subtle aromas, which are the result of double distillation performed at a slightly higher temperature than usual to remove as many impurities as possible. The moral of this success story: their bourbon, made using corn from their own fields, is now one of their bestsellers. Quite the honor, and much deserved.
