Located at the foot of the Dumgoyne hills, on the border between the Highlands and the Lowlands, Glengoyne is the southernmost Highland distillery in Scotland. Its name, derived from the Scottish Gaelic Glenguin, means "valley of the wild geese," in tribute to the migratory birds that fly over the region.
Glengoyne stands out for having one of the slowest distillations in Scotland, with a flow rate limited to just 5 liters per minute—three times slower than the industry standard. This slow distillation process allows for prolonged contact with the copper, revealing a unique aromatic richness and a delicately fruity profile. Distilled in two passes through three stills, it captures light, fruity esters that give the whisky its signature delicate green apple notes.
Glengoyne also stands out for cutting the distillate earlier than the industry standard, preserving only the purest heart of the run to deliver elegant and perfectly balanced whiskies. Every drop is carefully crafted using artisanal processes and traditional methods, ensuring authenticity and excellence in the final product.
