Owned by the TTL Group, Nantou is a Taiwanese distillery named after the town that surrounds it. Bordered by the magnificent Bagua mountain chain and peaceful Maoluo River, this rugged and hilly county is best known for its tea plantations, and recently, for its production of whisky!
Built with the utmost in precision, the Nantou Distillery opened its doors in 2008 and became the second distillery on the island of Taiwan. Nantou owes a great deal to the expertise of Mr. Pan, who managed the distillery for several years. Mr. Pan first joined the TTL Group in 1980, working in the "Wine" department. While there, he held a variety of positions and acquired invaluable knowledge on the alcoholic beverage industry. Gradually he became a point of contact within the group,
in particular with regard to TTL's research & development activities.
Soon he would embark on a personal mission: travel the world to attain the passion and know-how required to make the most famous alcoholic beverages. He started with sake and shochu in Japan, then moved on to wine in France, beer in Germany, and finally whisky in Scotland, a final leg he'll never forget. Driven by this training and a steadfast enthusiasm for his work, he returned to Taiwan and became Director of the Nantou Distillery in 2012. He now provides the distillery with a fresh and modern perspective, all the while staying true to his traditional know-how. In 2015, Mr. Pan unveiled his very first official line of single malts called "Omar," which would be renamed "Yushan Signature" and "Yushan Blended Malt" a few years later.

A true enthusiast of the world of wines and spirits, Mr. Tzu-Ching Kuo joined the Nantou distillery in 2009 to take charge of production. Driven by the desire to perpetuate the distillery's guiding principles, which have made it internationally renowned, he nevertheless stands out for his ability to innovate and create new flavors. In particular, he has contributed to the creation of the Yushan Signature Series.
